Hello Jazz Members!

This year rehearsals will be held EVERY WEDNESDAY from 2:30-4:00 please make arrangements in your schedule to be present every week.

For NEW MEMBERS I need you to sign up for an audition spot by GOING HERE.  If there are not enough times available please email me dmyers@noolp.org and I will add more times. Please pick the earliest available time.

ALL MEMBERS new and old please GO HERE and register for Jazz Band by filling out the google doc.

ALL MEMBERS must register for my class in REMIND by GOING HERE!

Visitation Day

Hello All,

So very sorry for my lack of information regarding tomorrow and Jazz Bands part in visitation day. The DURING school day portion is NOT going to involve us. Sister, Mariel, and Anne already have a presentation put together for the incoming freshmen that involves/promotes Concert Band, Choir, and Theater. We have been asked to perform TOMORROW NIGHT from 7:00pm-8:00pm it is only an hour I am going to ask that you arrive at 6:30PM to help set the stage and warm up. I know this is very short notice and that many of you have jobs, I am going to kindly ask that you do your best to attend. If you can't make it please notify me asap so I have it in writing, but please make an effort to call a friend or boss and switch shifts. If you can make it please email me back with a very simple "I'LL BE THERE" !!! If you can't Please reply and let me know what conflict you have. 

Since we most likely will not have the full band I am going to turn it into a Jazz Clinic, discussing the art of Improvisation... you will need to be dressed in school uniform, have your instrument, and please bring both lab band tunes because we are going to be working on soloing over changes that apply to both tunes we played today. 

Again my sincere apologies for not providing you more notice. Please respond to this email either way so I know who to expect.

I have seen many of you over the last week or so, a few of you have needed another audition time so I will be at wood on MONDAY 9/29 morning during home room (7:30-7:50) please fill out the form on the post below before you come I need all the info in order to begin ordering our music.

2014-2015 Jazz Band Audition Information

Hello All!
It was great to talk with you this morning regarding this years Jazz Lab Band! If you were unable to attend todays meeting don't fear, everything we discussed is listed below in the meeting notes. Auditions have been officially scheduled for SEPTEMBER 24th, and 25th AFTER SCHOOL! Please fill out the audition form so I know when your planning on auditioning! Remember the audition process is very simple, please prepare a few scales, an excerpt that demonstrates your abilities and skills, and be prepared to do a small sight reading sample. I am looking for things like good timing, tone, and intonation NOT JAZZ EXPERIENCE!!! If you don't make the group do not be discouraged!! I will be happy to sit down recommend some skills to work on and you can re-audition in the future! The goal of auditions is for me to get to know your skills as a player, since we are a unique one of a kind group all of our music is composed for us and it is important for me to know your skill levels and experience before we begin writing.  I look forward to seeing you all at auditions, if you cannot make either audition date please email me at dmyers@noolp.org so that I may schedule another time to hear you play. -Jazz members must participate in concert band or string ensemble
-All students interested must schedule an audition to be accepted into the ensemble
-Rehearsals will be held WEDNESDAYS after school from 2:30-4:00
-Students will perform and compose original works in a variety of jazz styles
-Students MUST attend all scheduled rehearsals unless being excused by Mr. Myers

50th Anniversary show

Attention all Lab band members old and potentially new! I am looking for some students to help perform for the 50th anniversary show that Wood will be putting on Oct 17th. Please email me if your interested in playing should be a fun gig!
