Concert Tonight!

Hello All!
Winter Concert is tonight starting at 7pm. I will be getting there around 6 to set up some stuff and get ready for our set, not sure where we fall in the concert beginning, middle or end would be my best guess.

Dress Code is Black and White with "Christmas Trim". Be there no later that 6:15-6:25 I would rather you be early than late. Make sure you are warmed up, in tune, and ready to play before the concert starts.

Set List for us:
Santa Clause is coming (ala Funk style)
Cold Duck Time (be prepared to solo!!!)

Winter Concert

Hey Guys and Gals,
We will be rehearsing tomorrow from 2:30-4:00 Please be ready to play Cold Duck Time, and Santa Clause is coming to town. Those are out two for the winter show Dec 18th. We will also brush up on Detour and Devil Went Down for the Jazz Fest at Rowan. Please be tuned, setup, and ready to play by 2:40. I may be 5 or 10 min late coming over from a dress rehearsal at Nativity.

All of you who played or performing in Sound of Music, you guys did an amazing job cannot tell you how impressed I was with the whole production. Time to start the next one!!!

Hey guys! 

We have been asked to have an open rehearsal at the open house on Thursday night. We will meet in the band room and rehearse on the stage to try and bring awareness to the program. Detour and Devil Went

Hey All,
Please be prepared to play through Devil Went Down and the first Half of Detour by Thursday. I really wanna get moving on these because we are going to start playing some holiday jazz stuff for the winter concert. Make sure we count our parts perfectly! Thank you

Hey Guys,

Remember to be checking this weekly! We have two of our tunes in for this week, so please be sure to bring all of your instruments, as well as Cold Duck time from last week. We are going to be using that as one of the tunes. Jacq you will need the Harp for this week "Detour" has a really cool harp part in it.

Rehearsals

Hello Guys,
Sorry for the cancelation of Jazz Band last week. Unfortunately I was under the weather, and a few of our students had a tennis match so I thought it best to start this week. If we could ALL have a blank manuscript book this year (full page sized) I think it would be ideal. I want to start teaching you guys simple improvisational techniques and compositional skills that you will need. You can feel free to make a binder and just print free stuff off the internet, or go to the store and shell out $4-6 for a blank manuscript book. Please bring them, and your instruments to rehearsal this Thursday.

Welcome!

Hello All,

After tonights parent meeting I thought it would be a good idea if I created a Jazz Band blog! I will have Sister add it to the school website ASAP! Jazz band info meeting will be Friday the 20th at 7:30am (during homeroom) and auditions TBA. I hope everyone had a great summer and is ready to hit the ground swingin come October. This year is going to be even better than the last!
